Dora Kim is a versatile textile designer with a deep passion for weaving, encompassing woven fabrics, fiber arts, and pattern design. With roots in both the U.S. and South Korea, she brings a unique blend of cultural perspectives to her work. Dora holds a B.D. and M.F.A. in Living Products design, specializing in textile design from Yeungnam University in Korea, and is currently pursuing an M.F.A. in Textiles at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she focuses on weaving.
Dora’s work is inspired by the fleeting beauty of nature's imperfections and the structured elegance of architecture. Through her textiles, she seeks to harmonize these contrasting elements, creating designs that evoke tranquility and peace. She is deeply committed to exploring the essence of each material, and her work often reflects a study of space, natural light, and emotion.
Her ultimate goal is to craft textiles that connect these diverse elements, offering a sense of balance and serenity to those who experience her designs.
